The Equipment to get the Job Done Our landscape operation fleet consists of five super duty trucks and two pick-up trucks. The oldest truck is 1994 with four of the trucks 2000 or newer. We have a new mulch blower, a skid steer and a new dingo with five attachments. The landscape division shares two skid steers and five tractors, including various attachments, with the nursery. We also have an extensive collection of power equipment to make your job easier. Equipment is updated on a consistent basis to insure we remain competitive.
WAGES NON-SUPERVISORY EMPLOYEES-- The starting wage for all new employees is $10.00 per hour. Part-time employees (those averaging less than 40 hrs. per week), will start at $9.00 per hour. Pay scales for non-supervisory employees range from $10.00 to $12.00 per hour depending on experience and work ethic. Historically, first year raises have been between 50¢ and $1.25 an hour. Any employee who exhibits conscientiousness and leadership abilities may be considered for a supervisory position. RETURN BONUS FOR 2ND YEAR LABORERS -- Laborers returning for the second year will receive a guaranteed wage increase of 5% from what their wage was at the end of the previous year. SUPERVISORY EMPLOYEES-- The rate of pay for all supervisory employees will be determined on the basis of job performance. Typical raises are between 4 and 9% per year.
BENEFITS
VACATION PAY-- Full-time employees who begin work by April 15 and work through to December 21 or the end of the fall season, will receive paid vacations. Vacation benefits are as follows: - First year - 1 week paid vacation - Second year - 2 weeks paid vacation - After Five years - 3 weeks paid vacation. PAID HOLIDAYS-- Full-time employees, after 3 years, all supervisors and secretaries will receive the following paid holidays: New Years Day, Memorial Day, the plan. The cafeteria plan allows participants to deduct health insurance, dependent care and medical expenses, tax free PERFECT ATTENDANCE BONUS-- Full-time employees with perfect attendance (cannot be late for work either) for a 30 day period will receive a $50.00 bonus. Any employee achieving the bonus for a ninety (90) day period will receive an additional $100.00 bonus. SIMPLIFIED EMPLOYEE PENSION PLAN-- Full-time employees over the age of 21 are eligible for employer IRA contributions after the first anniversary of their date of employment. The five year average contribution to this plan is 7.25%. CAFETERIA PLAN-- After 90 days employees may elect to participate in our cafeteria plan. The cafeteria plan allows participants to deduct health insurance, dependent care and medical expenses, tax free MAJOR MEDICAL INSURANCE-- After 90 days full time employees are eligible for individual major medical insurance. The medical benefit schedule is as follows: - After 90 days the company pays 50% of the employee’s premium the employee pays 50% - After 2 years the company pays 75% of the employee’s premium, the employee pays 25%. Our current health insurance plan is Blue Access. It has an in network deductible of $250 with $1500 maximum out of pocket. Office service co-pays are $15.00. EDUCATION INCENTIVES-- In order for our company to grow, we recognize the importance of continuing education. Full-time employees will be reimbursed for pre-approved horticultural classes. Approval will be for both course selection and cost. -If a final grade of “A” is received you will be reimbursed for 100% of the cost of the class. -If a final grade of “B” is received you will be reimbursed for 50% of the cost of the class. Employees are encouraged to take the following tests: - Ohio Landscape Installer's Certification - Ohio Pesticide Applicator's License - Ohio Nurseryman's Certificate An employee who passes any of these tests will receive a 5% wage increase for each category. Any new employee who has already passed one or more of these tests will be compensated in his beginning wage. Employees are encouraged to learn the Spanish language. An employee who becomes fluent in Spanish will receive a 5% wage increase. REFERRAL BONUS-- A $50.00 referral fee will be paid to any employee who refers an individual for employment. The referral fee will be paid, by check, once the new employee has completed 30 days of continued employment.
